Kevin Durant is the Suns' 4th leading scorer tonight and he has 2 more than Ant. As it becomes more obvious that this is the first round matchup, the next week will be about reducing turnovers and purposefully gettting Ant loose.

They have Durant, Booker, Beal, Allen, ONeale and even Okogie in a pinch to throw at him. Not a good matchup. Who do we have offensively on the Wing/PF to counter other than Edwards? Really a worst case scenario matchup that will force Edwards to be in Jordan mode to have a shot here.

suns will be coming into this series very confident. maybe over-confident. it's time to punch them in the mouth and see how they respond. the wolves haven't played well in any of the games yet. that could turn into a good thing in this series if finch can get through to his team. i put it on him to get this team up to speed.

The Wolves two worst defensive games of the season, in terms of points allowed per possession, have been the Nov. 15th game against Phoenix and then tonight against Phoenix thus far (still 6 mins to go to maybe improve that a bit). The other Phoenix matchup, a loss on April 5th, was the Wolves worst offensive game of the season, in terms of points scored per possession. (My opinion would be to more so dismiss the poor offensive game than the two poor defensive games.)

Yep, have not liked the matchup from the beginning. Can only say that I’ve seen, really, the third quarter today of the three games they’ve played this year.

In my head I just imagined them using Nurkic similar to how Denver uses Jokic given no real PG on the roster. Which meant Gobert being pulled away from the hoop because you couldn’t put him on Durant. Then, what, Towns on Durant? Didn’t like that at all. You could try McDaniels, but then it leaves a mismatch for Booker? Or Beal? Also bad. Conley, as much as I love him, also giving up size.

Offensively, like you said, I envisioned a lot more length to send at Edwards.

I thought it was the pelicans, we have no good matchup for Zion, but maybe it is the suns.


I think our two bigs against Nurkic and Durant is tough. We should hammer them physically. Destroy them on the glass. Make the refs call fouls. If they do, fine. Go smaller to match them. Put one of Towns/Gobert to the bench and put Anderson in as the 4. But this mismatch has just favored them so far because we aren’t playing physical enough and trying to exploit it the other way.

But I agree with whoever said above that putting the ball in Nurkic’s hands fucks with Gobert. So get them back other ways.
